Scottsdale Auto Auctions – Auction Previews

scottsdale auto auctionBelieve it or not, but it’s already time for the 2014 Scottsdale Auto Auctions! For those who are new to the classic car scene, each year some of the nation’s premier auto auctioners gather in Scottsdale, Ariz. to display and sell their wares to car collectors big and small. While there are likely auctions in other parts of the country that move a larger quantity of vehicles, the grouping of auctions in Scottsdale contain some of the most sought after and rare vehicles in existence.

In turn, these rare classics will draw in crowds of buyers and spectators north of 250,000 this January 12-19. Because so many of our users are car fanatics, we felt it only appropriate to give you a brief rundown of the major auctions taking place next week:

Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction – January 12-19, 2014

This auction is arguably the crown jewel of the week-long Scottsdale auctions. Offering up roughly 1,000 vintage and classic vehicles for auction, participants are treated to some extremely lavish accommodations including fine art displays and gourmet food. This event alone draws nearly 250,000 participants from around the globe.

This auction is an muscle car enthusiasts dream. Known for outstanding customer service and heavy on the fuel-injected fun, this auction features American muscle cars, European sports cars, hot rods and customs – all in impeccable condition. If you love the roar of a hot rod engine this event is a must-see.

If burnouts and quarter-mile racing isn’t necessarily your forte, Gooding & Co. often sets its auction apart by focusing on collectors with a more refined taste. While refinement’s definition is up for debate, well recognized high-end classics like Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Porsche and Cadillac are names often repeated in their 2014 auction catalogue.

RM Automobiles of Arizona – January 16-17, 2014
Another of the most respected auction houses, RM Auctions brings quite a diverse catalog to Scottsdale in 2014. A few items that instantly caught my attention were the 1952 Harley-Davidson FL Sport Solo1957 BMW Isetta 300 and 1930 Bugatti Type 35B Grand Prix. Attendees at this event can expect quite the variety of impressive vehicles to hit the auction block.

Silver Auto Auctions – January 17-18, 2014
Seemingly geared more toward the beginning collector, Silver bills its auction as a place where real buyers and sellers can get real cars at real deals. There is a great variety of vehicles on their preliminary list – everything from classics to modern sports cars – so any attendee will be treated to an “A to Z” of choices.

Regardless of your affinity to one maker or style of vehicle or another, the collection of auctions in Scottsdale each January is a must-see for any car fanatic looking to start or expand their collection.
